Inspiration from Stacey V.
PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION
Letter - Workplace scenario:
Your clinic will no longer be a preferred provider for Blue Cross Blue
Shield. Write a letter to send to all patients who are covered by this
insurance company informing them of the change effective September 1.
Email - Workplace scenario:
You will send this letter about Blue Cross Blue Shield as an email attachment to all patients with that health insurance. This letter will also be mailed as a hard copy. For this scenario, use lizonufer@yahoo.com as one of the patients who needs to get this letter.
SOFT SKILLS
How did you use soft skills in the workplace scenario? We prioritized the top three:
- Responsibility
- Communication
- Time Management
PHONE CALL
Your medical clinic has implemented new safety protocols due to COVID 19. Anyone coming to the medical clinic for an appointment must be phone in from the parking lot upon arrival, wait in the car until called back to enter the office, wear a mask, and only go from the front door to their medical room and back out. All payments will be credit card over the phone.
You need to call anyone who has a scheduled appointment for the next day and let them know about these protocols. Write down your script for these phone calls.
EXCEL
Create an annual
expense budget for front office supplies. Include the monthly expenses
for each item. Total the monthly expenses, as well as how much is spent
on each item annually.
WORD
Postcard template:
- Due to COVID- 19 concerns, the clinic doctor does not want a rush of physicals at the start of the year. She has decided to offer a 20% discount on school sports physicals done before September 1. The doctor has asked you to make a postcard to send out to all clients who've had sports physicals at the clinic in the past two years.
REFLECTION
What are you taking away from our time together? What resources will you use to strengthen your skills in Word, Excel, and professional communication?
