PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATION & SOFT SKILLS

  • What are the different methods we use to communicate information in the workplace?
  • What are soft skills? Why are they important?
  • How do we use soft skills in professional communication?

EXCEL

Workplace scenarios

1. Add an actual and variance column for each month to your office supplies budget.

2. Create a medical supply inventory spreadsheet. Include minimum quantity to stock, quantity on hand, and quantity to order. On a separate sheet, track units per package, total price, and price per unit.

WORD / BUSINESS LETTER

Workplace scenario

A patient paid for their doctor's visit at the time of services. When you submitted the visit to the patient's insurance, the insurance covered 80% of the visit. Write a letter to be included with the patient refund check explaining the situation and refund.

EMAIL

Workplace scenario

I just received a second check for a patient refund. I received the first refund for $73.83 on October 1 and then I got another check for $73.83 on October 15. Both checks state patient ID #12590 refund. Was the second check sent by mistake?

Respond to Liz's email clarifying what happened with the two checks and what she should do with the second check. (You will make this up in your role play.)
